Now that I think about it, one more reason that I can see for it not happening, is that if Blizzard is scrapping LAN gameplay, it seems like they are doing so because they don't want their code to go out to the public... this kind of implies that they wouldn't be willing to offer the codes required for modding either as they would have to reveal too much to those people who could make emulated LAN with them...

I'm not a huge fan of modding an rpg (except for NWN, it did wonders for that one...), especially with the random dungeons it will be hard to implement, and it shouldn't and probably won't be a primary focus for Blizzard.I'd like the chance to customize my UI with ease though like WoW. :)

(sorry to double post, but the reply got f***ed for unknown reason and I cannot edit yetIIRC there are instance in each chapters. Meaning it's not all random stuff. The biggest obstacle is indeed the lack of lan to play these map locally... (I'd never imagine I would regret LAN one day... d"oh)

incubi have male organs, succubi are female...

other than that, it'd be a hell of a lot easier to edit a game made by a company that like's it's consumers than one that doesnt

if they included thier own suite of editors with the game, there wouldnt be too huge a reason to poke around for lan, at least not right away... IMHO people would be too busy making maps and possibly custom items/skills to think about lan.. especially since they could just do what UT does and give the players the option of uploading mods for custom rooms they make on B-Net

I dislike mods, Diablo has always been good as it is, in my opinion.
Singelplayer mods might be fun if you play the game allover again and it starts to get boring and you don't have a internet connection so you can play online.

Are we talking about mods like increased drop-rate and exp, or mods like, defending a city from monster attacks and so on?

I'm talking about mods "Boy I wish I could make the game longer by adding my own dungeons and inviting my buddies to play"

I guess some would talk about mods "Boy I wish I could change some skills to tweak them Median 2008 style"

But as you mentionned it could also be mods like DotA which make the game funnier for experienced players...

All games with exceptionnal longevity could be modded one way or another ;\

IMO mods = game has far longer life than a game without any. Also item maps/rooms don't really = a mod IMO.
Using TQ mods/maps as an example mods are the masteries mod (skills changes) the "Lilith The Will of Demon: Battles of Jalavia" mod. The item maps are just that maps with items on them therefore not a mod IMO.
