The idea of inventing strange new creatures to use in fiction is an old one, what with Star Wars and Star Trek and Stargate and all. However, I feel that by now, we should have evolved a bit from this idea and realise that those we would like to call aliens, are in fact more at home in fantasy novels.
The definition of alien is :"differing in nature or character typically to the point of incompatibility". This difference in nature is often very small, and to better outline the point I'm making I… More

I've been thinking a bit today (hooray for my apathic mind) and have come up with a rather disquieting statistic. "The holy grail is taking a business, already a very large and successful business that's focused on packaged goods that you sell once and then are occasionally resold by others with new benefit to us, and turning that into a subscription business or a semi subscription… More

We all know how games work. You risk for rewards, and if you fail you have to lose something. If you don't, then it's boring and easy. If you lose too much, then it's frustrating and, again, boring. Throughout time different games have tried different approaches to this, and yet few manage to keep the balance.
