Aperture Science. We do what we must, because we can.

Some of you may have already spotted this on both Cosplay.com  and Kotaku today, this authentic looking Portal Gun is apparently made of heavy, real world materials quite unlike the equally awesome yet delicate papier-mache cosplay-related gear that usually makes its rounds.

emilyskeith writes, "My boyfriend made this ASHPD for me for my upcoming Aperture Science Test Subject costume. It lights up both blue and orange along the tube and in …  More

Bashiok has made a new post on the official Diablo 3 forums today, this time answering a questions about the stat system and once again reiterating why Blizzard thinks that the auto system is good.

Pyramid16:  I think a good way for auto stats is build them up depending on what you do with your character. for example if you spend alot of time on low health, vitality goes up or stamina increase from running alot.

MUD is an acronym for "multi user dungeon" and it refers to one of the earliest forms of online RPGs. Many games, including current generation MMORPGs and action RPGs like Diablo 2 owe much of their history to classic pen and paper role-playing games as much as they do to MUDs.

This may not be an issue that most people can relate to at a surface level, but it is important, nonetheless, to acknowledge the importance of MUDs and what they've done for online games and gaming culture over the years.

Video gaming: is it merely a phenomenon or has it genuinely become a part of our culture? I'd personally like to lean towards believing the latter. In any case, it appears that a group of people with a lot of money share my views and have, in their wisdom, invested a large sum of $7.5 million dollars to Major League Gaming.

In a previous entry about Major League Gaming's fresh investment of $7.5 million for the purpose of driving professional gaming to new heights, I noted that while it might not mean much to those of us who don't really follow the professional gaming scene, it's still nice to see such investments being made into the 'culture' we so strongly identify with as individuals.

Left 4 DeadThere's a strong post going about on the Steam forums that the Left 4 Dead patch may become available this very week, an e-mail response from Valve developer Chet Faliszek is to be believed. I've personally no reason to think it's false, and no Valve developer or moderator has said anything to the contrary despite the thread being well over 11 pages now.

Under the massive strain of ennui in recent days, I have at once decided to end that feeling of listlessness with a simple little post that will, hopefully, get my blogging back on track perhaps even to a point where I can legitimately refer to myself as a 'blogger' and not someone who just writes a lame article once every couple of weeks.

Since I know a lot of the people who visit our site also followed Hellgate London back in the day, I thought I'd share these pics I saw today here.

While it is true that there were many varied views on the game and many of the people here hated it, I think a lot of us will agree that the concept art for the game was quite awesome, even if a lot of it didn't actually make it to the game.

Today, Jason Felix, one of the guys who did the art for the game made a megapost which shows a lot of his work.

Well, we always knew that companies like Activision-Blizzard and Ubisoft were blatant, or vulgar, with their embedded video game advertisements in TV shows. We've seen the boys from The IT Crowd hawk a boxed copy of Assassin's Creed and we've seen some of their titles on Chuck and other assorted TV shows. Most of us have seen the World of Warcraft episode of South Park, and it was good.

It's that time of year again; when the year still has that wonderful new car smell, carcinogens and other potential health risks notwithstanding.

I'm excited about 2009 and beyond. Needless to say, I'm excited about playing Starcraft II, should it ever come out this year, and I'm excited about Diablo III, which should make its way to us within less than a decade. I'm almost certain it'll be out and in our hands to play before Duke Nukem Forever finally sees the light of day.
