A boycott in name alone is no boycott at all. It might as well be show a of support.

boycott fail

Now just imagine if animal rights activists supped at KFC after a long day of protesting the very company they despise. And you wonder why nobody takes online petitions seriously

Go have a cry about it.

All of them. You can't play it on Steam without a legal copy.

I'm asking because Steam allows you to link "non-Steam games" to Steam and execute them through there so you get the Steam overlay in them. That's what I'm doing with my retail Dragon Age and Steam then reports to everyone that I'm busy playing Dragon Age despite the fact that I didn't buy it through Steam. You can do the same thing with pirated games, which is why I asked.

But then I remembered that MW2 uses Steamworks, like F.E.A.R. 2 and DoW2, which means you need to run Steam to play the game, correct?

I don't think people understand the term "boycott" anymore. Nowadays it means "be unhappy and complain about". And by the looks of it, their popuated by weak willed people.

Pah. Got no time for them. Why join a cause if you're not going to follow through? I'm not getting L4D2 till I can get it cheap from overseas (uncensored) somewhere. Is that so hard?
Damn kids just want to be part of the "cool crowd".

I'm too busy boycotting Dragon Age to boycott MW2.  60+ hours of boycotting so far!

The boycott was always doomed to fail from the start, mainly because it only affected multiplayer PC, and the proportion of pontentially lost customers is too small to even bother Activision. Once reports were made on the sheer success of the release, particularly on concoles, there was nothing left to hold hostage. I'm sure many boycotters felt it was pointless to continue after that and just caved in and bought it.

The reason why there are some few PC sales is BECAUSE of the dedicated serverlesness!
IW made a game for the console tards, and made an unsuccessful PC port. How can you not see why the PC fans are so furious about it!?

"Once reports were made on the sheer success of the release, particularly on concoles..." The console sales were better than the PC sales BECAUSE the PC fans gave up buying the game because for a long time they were looking forward to the game, and shortly before release IW drops the bomb and announces that it won't have dedicated server support!

BLIND!

IW made $310 million off this game do you really think they care about a few nerd PC gamers threatening them with a half-assed boycott, which most of them can't even keep longer than a day?

I still haven't bought it because it doesn't have dedis, but whining like a ***** isn't going to solve anything. If you don't like their choices, don't buy it. If you're still buying it, then it means you want it and they are doing something right.

In short, you fail.

You are right. They did do something right... on the console side of things. Thanks for making a port to PC, coz now at least PC fans can play the SP. But ******* up MP by removing dedicated servers just to push console sales, is just showing they don't care about the PC platform anymore. So why did they really bother to port it to PC in the first place?

If they did want the sales in BOTH console and PC platforms, they should have spent a little more time supporting dedicated servers so the PC fans could ALSO benefit from the game, and IW would probably have doubled their sales!

It was stupid of IW to make that choice, and deep down everyone (with all the boycotts and **** aside) knows that's true. PC sales suffered because of it, and the fans too.

This is a much more effective means of protest for Modern Warfare 2.
