Are you feeling nostalgic? Do you want to rekindle your flame for Diablo II but you're afraid of how the low resolution might look on your 24" LCD? Fear no more!
A clever programmer has come up with a mod for Diablo II to add support for a host of high resolution settings for the timeless action RPG, allowing you to play in modes other than 640x480 and 800x600.
With added support for widescreen displays in both Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, you'll be able to take your Diablo II experience to a whole new level.
According to testers on the widescreen Gaming Forums, players intending to use this mod should take note that the program runs better on Vista and Windows 7 than it does on XP, and that you should also disregard using software rendering, as DirectX rendering works fine and looks far better despite the author of the mod's recommendations.

Thanx so much for this - I've been itching to play D2 again - Ironically I just checked the other day to find my 75 assassin deleted - Still got my lvl 84 sorc tho :p. Oh and on another note, I have Diablo 1 for Playstation that I loaded up last night and it brought back memories, but the game play of playing it on a console system is sooooo sluggish that I couldn't stomach it for long ).

Noice. It's hard to imagine, but low resolution support is what keeps me from continuously going back to play the classics, so I blame Blizzard for the loss of my Hammerdin and Trapsin. Maybe I'll roll a WW Barb instead.

When reading the header, I just thought:
"cool, 1.13 is ready with new hi res 2d textures, thank you so much blizz..."
meeehh
Anyway, nice.
You should mention that its single player only.

But does it fix the amusing slowdown you still get while playing it on high-end PCs?

I'd think it was cool if I could play online. I don't enjoy single player.

I'm currently using a core2duo processor and diablo 2 slows down when I turn it to high resolution.
