Presenting Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 at the Poznan Game Arena games convention in Poland, Bioware’s Jay Watamaniuk let it slip that Mass Effect 2 may be headed to Sony’s Playstation 3 platform after all, surprising everyone.
Despite statements in the past that the sci-fi themed RPG would remain without a PS3 port, Watamaniuk mentioned that the game would be targeted towards Xbox 360, PC and “probably PS3”, though he later backed down and denied making the statement, stating that he would not comment on “rumors and speculation” about a possible PS3 release.
Polish bloggers at Polygamia.pl, which covered the event wrote that it would be best to treat the accidental announcement as a slip of the tongue, but added that if the developer says that if such a possibility exists, then a port is rather likely to happen at some point.
Update: Jay Watamaniuk just posted the following details on the Bioware forum:
There is a report circulating today based on an appearance I made in Poland yesterday. Seems there was a misunderstanding about ME2 coming to PS3.
Let me clarify today: ME2 is coming to PC and X360 only. Look for them both on Jan 26 in NA and Jan 29 in Europe.
