As most of us hack, slash and burn our way through Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2 looms on the horizon. I can almost detect a BioWare plot to keep us permanently indoors and out of sleep during the winter months with their time-devouring role playing games.
Ever eager to cater to the whims and demands of the more ardent collectors among us, BioWare has announced the Mass Effect 2 Collector’s Edition. It includes:
- A tin case
- 48-page hardcover art book
- Issue 1 of Mass Effect Redemption, the official comic book
- Bonus DVD with “making of” footage (as is Bioware tradition)
- Exclusive in-game weapons and armor
The collector’s edition will carry a price of $69.99 and $59.99 on the Xbox 360 and PC respectively. Both regular and special editions of Mass Effect 2 are slated for release on 26th January, 2010 (29th in Europe).
The exclusive in-game armor can be seen below:

I understand that the Collector's Edition contains the obligatory hardcover art book, but 48 pages?

I already have exclusive Blood Dragon armour due to my purchase of the Dragon Age: Origins Collectors Edition (which had no books of any sort except for the decently layed out manual printed in underwhelming greyscale). How many exclusive sets of armour can any one character wear at a time?
That said, the armour does look damn cool. Guyver-ish even.
