We’re in the process of working on Diablo II content patch 1.13, and we want to try to include the Diablo community’s most important changes in our production schedule. To achieve this we’re asking for your input on what you’d like to see in this patch. However, we’re making it a bit stricter than a full-blown wish list.
If you were to get an advance look at the patch notes for Diablo II 1.13, what is the one patch note you would want to see?
Our goal is to get an overall sense of the single most important request from every member of the community. We want as many posts as we can get for the largest cross section, so if you have friends who used to play Diablo II or just don’t frequent the forums as much as you do, let them know this is here so we can get their “#1 patch note” too.
Please be mindful that we’re not going to be able to make every change mentioned, but hopefully with your feedback we can prioritize and do our best to cover as much as possible.
Interesting to see that we will be getting another patch for Diablo 2, which likely means that there is still a long while before Diablo 3...

While this bodes well for Diablo II, I'm pretty sure it's a good indicator that Diablo III is a long way off. A 2010 release is just wishful thinking.

very glad to see them doing this ^_^
and my #1 -
severely nerfing the amount of exp gained from baal runs (and other such things) so that i can enjoy leveling by playing the game as it was originally intended

Agreed. Blizz tends to only release games when they're good an ready.
Or, in the case of Ghost, pull projects entirely if they don't see them going anywhere/market demand...
But Diablo III is even further along than I even dared to hope, so while I'd agree on 2010, and that is a tad disappointing, I'll be that much more glad to play a fully detailed and realized world with unique and interesting characters!

A diablo 2 patch? with like what kinds of stuff? like maybe a bit of extra content or something? or? oh god, oh man, my head's gonna explode, oh geez!
Am I wrong to get this excited about this?
Oh man...
What the hell do I want as a single thing... Geez, the ability to re-assign my skill points, because that is one heart breaking element of making a character and trying to experiment man!
My one thing is officially: ability to re-assign skill points for a fee or for whatever... just not only once, I want to experiment with lots of different builds...

Oh man, I don't have a Battle.net account... Does that make me a loser? Can someone make that suggestion for me? RE-Spec on stats and skills!
Thanks... if anyone does haha!

Thing is, with Diablo 2 these days, you can get to level 80 on Battle Net within 2-3 hours quite easily...
So it kind of seems pointless to have a respec when it's that easy to just make a new character...

Talking stricktly from single player perspective here, where life is hell reaching level 80

But why would you need it in Single Player when there is many character editors freely available out there, which can give you the option of resetting skills...

Nah, I know they exist, but call me a softy for legitimate ways to edit characters, I just remember a bad experience and a ultra bust character because of an editor..

How can they possibly fix diablo II now when they failed to do that in 10 years...
The game is way too bugged/unbalanced to be able to be fixed without a total rework.
And I think that it's hard to pull out a single thing to fix from all the things that need work.
Maybe is that thread a way to found out the biggest mistake to avoid in diablo III?

They've got different people around this time.
The original developers, Blizzard North, went on to create Hellgate: London and that didn't turn out so well.
But yeah, as you said, it may be a way to find out the biggest mistakes to avoid in D3. Valve tends to do this all the time with their updates and sales experiments, and it wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard was trying the same thing here.

For instance, I had to copy my Diablo II play disc to an ISO file and use Daemon Tools to run the ISO as a virtual disc drive... that's annoying.

Entirely possible, and if so, (I'm w/ Sol Invictus here) it would be an incredibly wise manuever on their part. On what Sol Invictus said concerning Valve, I'd like to add a little thought here that is in no way original: the Steam network is an incredibly good idea, it's a great marketing tool, a somewhat, though slightly clunky messenger, and works far better than traditional copy guard systems, which tend to punish the legitimate buyer more anyhow.

I'm installing my Diablo 2 again!
By the way, any of you Diablo 2/Hellgate players, add me on Xfire. I just installed it and need some friends lol. (Xfire = shantrising)
And now back on topic...
One thing I would like to see updated is some more character balancing for sure.
And maybe have gold be worth something now? lol It's hard to get rich in Diablo when gold is not worth anything. You hav eto be lucky enough to find stuff or have someone hand you something good for free so you can trade for stuff you want...But then again, it kind of makes Diablo unique from other games...
Just my 2 cents...

Just as a little aside... does anyone think that them doing this "announcement" and April 1st coming up very soon is just coincedence?
Or are they going to pull a new elaborate April Fools on us that they are just leading up to with this somehow...

As a person who still plays Diablo II LoD, I am nevertheless continually amazed with the dedicated staff at Blizzard taking time to analize and fabricate patches for Diablo II. To me it's akin to developers that still publish games for Dreamcast (I have a Dreamcast as well... excellent gaming system). I guess if something's well-established, and is good enough, it just never dies!

Having played the game for 8 years, I have a lot to say in terms of changes. Probably one of the most important things I would like to have changed would be to make the hostility button MUTUAL in hardcore mode. In other words, one must accept to be dueled by another player and also must express hostility. In regards to someone else complaining about how easy it is to get to 80 (2-3) hrs, I say make it that easy but make the max level 105 or 110 (not 99) and make higher level requirements to learn skills from the skill trees.
