Bashiok has once again posted on the official forums. This time it is regarding ingame chests (the wooden kind :P) and how to unlock them.

When one fan suggested that there should be a few chests that can only be open with certain keys, Bashiok had the following to say.

Having keys that are dropped for specific uses, that have more story and questing elements tied to them are definitely possible. In a general 'designery' way Leoric's crown was essentially a key used to unlock the boss fight in the BlizzCon demo. So I don't think it's out of the question to then have a literal key be used for more quest-centric chest unlocking purposes.

That's of course completely separate from the generic dropped keys and their ability to open randomly spawned 'locked' chests. We don't currently have keys and locked chests, but... we're not completely opposed to them either.

Something I posted about a long time ago, which were just ideas being thrown around internally, is the idea of having multiple tiers of chests with subsequently lower spawn rates, and subsequently increased chances for dropping better and better items. At that point keys sort of become this unnecessary burden, because you already had the amazing luck of having the rarest chest type in the game spawn, it's probably not all that cool to then also say "Now find a key for it!"

Another poster asked about the new classes, and Bashiok told him that there would be five all up, when someone asked if there were any hints about these classes on the forums Bashiok responed with:

Haha, well that would ruin all the fun if I told you.

Then showing he also has a human side, when someone said it's not really fun for them, Bashiok responded with:

Ah right, sorry, I meant to say "that will ruin all my fun".

Enjoy:D

If they do it won't be called the Paladin, as they said no other old characters will make it back, however I could see a copy of one, just like the Wizard is really the Sorceress...

Yeah exacltly, no "other" characters :)

Barbarian was the only one they said they are going to redo, as the character they initially made was just too much like the Barbarian that they decided to ditch the old name they had conceptualised for it and just call it a Barbarian.

They have however said that no other character would be returning (except maybe in Expansions where they have hinted they are not against the idea of the Necromancer making it back)

There'll definately be a ranger/bow class imo (i.e. the amazon), thats a definate 3rd in my book. The other two 'types' I can't really but my finger on, lets hope Blizz has a few suprises for us.

The female magician/fighter NPC in the Pandemonium Fortress in the 3rd Act comes to mind. She seemed to be wearing a combo of leather, mail and light plate, and traced glowing sigils in the air, I wonder what type of class that could be? Traditional archetypes are somewhat limited, but if you're the one making up the Lore as you go, the sky's the limit.

I'd love a new iteration of the Necro. Maybe not as underpowered as before 1.10 or as overpowered as after 1.10 (in PvE). It was all I really played in D2

I could see Zealot of Zakarum being a good replacement for the Paladin. Remember the ones that would run from you after you had destroyed the Compelling Orb that Mephisto was using to control the High Council of Zakarum?

What do you guys think about the idea of a 'Nature' based class kinda like a Shaman?

The Witch Doctor appeals to that sensibility. I don't think we need another Druid/Shaman. What I'm looking forward to seeing is a classic Knight, decked in steel armor and silk robes.

I am hoping for a Death Knight (Necro / Palidan combo) to be one of the 5.

My 3 guesses of possibilities would be a Ranger/Hunter (bow plus dagger user), and the last class will either be a Knight/Warrior or a Shapeshifter/Demonologist of some kind mainly because we need a more evil based class too :p

That brings to mind the Rogue (not the WoW version), which is a classic pre-DII class that I could really see making a comeback here... But given what the Blizz Devs had said so far, it's equally possible that an alternate class can be made. I wonder what it might be called though? There's only so many fighter/cleric/sorceror archetypes available.
