One of the biggest games on my radar this fall is of course Modern Warfare 2.  Formerly of the "Call of Duty moniker" though they have seemingly dropped that title from game even though it has hurt the name recognition of the title.  Obviously most of us don't have an issue with this though I suspect the casuals may be out of the loop.

IGN sits down (HD here) and takes a look at the upcoming FPS title showing off the most footage of the game we have seen yet:

Regardless of any name confusion this title is on my most anticipated list of the 2nd half of the year and I saw this video preview today worthy of your viewership.

Looks at least slightly interesting eh?  I was going over my "wishlist" for the year and noticed a decidedly large lack of first person shooters.  Other than Bioshock 2 and L4D2 there is little on my radar in terms of FPS games the rest of the year.  Modern Warfare 2 doesn't look average by any means but it certainly doesn't have much competition within its genre.

I like the fact that Infinity Ward is skimping on the desert action as I can't be the only one that feels that whole motif is getting a bit played out in military based games.  Soap is back as well as the Russian "ultranationalist" movement.   On top of that they are trying to work out the kinks and possibly the ditch the "invisible trip wire" of infinitely spawning enemies, one of the few flaws in the original title's gameplay.  They have admitted that the story length isn't a major focus which is a slight disappointment as I felt the last one could be longer.  The bread and butter here is multiplayer, thus it is the focus of Infinity Ward's attention.

I have decided to cave and pick this up on the Xbox 360, mainly because my IRL friends are lame and won't buy good PCs to play on.  There are no other great shooters heading to 360 so if I want to ditch Rainbow Six 2 this seems to be the best game to play with pals.  You can expect to see me playing this on Xbox Live come November and those of you interested in gaming should definitely PM me and add me to the inferior console setup.

Well, i'm excited... but so far it's more white and gray than anything else, and that doesn't look good. Hope there is a better clip than that one where they show more than just snow and ice mountains :(
